Smart Strategies: Securing Senior Management Buy-In for a PAC [VIDEO]

As the Public Affairs Council’s 2015 Corporate PAC Benchmarking Report shows, engaging your CEO and other senior executives can be instrumental in helping your PAC succeed. Yet “management doesn’t come automatically equipped with an understanding of what a PAC is and what role it plays,” says Council board member Michael Dunn, chairman and CEO of Dunn Associates. So education is key.

It’s helpful if your organization has major issues coming up in Congress or in the state legislature, “because that becomes a key pivot point in getting [senior management] to understand the value of a PAC and why their participation is key to getting everybody else involved in the PAC as well,” he says. “They have to know that their people will not be involved in the PAC unless they see the value of it, unless they are involved.”

Click the video above to hear Mike’s advice on how to garner senior executives’ buy-in for your PAC — and how their engagement can boost overall participation.
