The Public Affairs Council is seeking an individual to oversee the organization’s executive education programs, member services, and research on management practices and emerging issues in public affairs. This position also has bottom-line responsibilities for generating non-dues revenue through events, benchmarking, consulting, sponsorships and publications. Manages a team with expertise in all aspects of public affairs; creates and facilitates member training and leadership programs in the U.S. and in collaboration with our European office; and is a frequent speaker to internal and external audiences. Serves on the senior management team and reports to the Council’s president.
Candidates must have excellent writing and public speaking skills; strong knowledge of public affairs management and best practices; exceptional leadership abilities; expertise in public opinion research methods; and understanding of major political, communications and business issues. Candidates must also have an entrepreneurial mindset with experience managing revenue-generating services as an association professional, management consultant or public affairs/communications agency executive.
Requires a bachelor’s degree (advanced degree in business or public policy a plus), a reputation for proficiency in public affairs and/or communications, and 10 years’ experience in executive education program design/management and staff management.
